  • Future is once again defending Lil’ Wayne for his decision to disrespect fallen Civil Rights icon Emmett Till in song “Karate Chop.”
In “Karate Chop,” Lil’ Tunechi raps, “Beat the pu**y up like Emmett Till.”
Weezy was subsequently axed from his Mountain Dew endorsement deal with PepsiCo.
Future defended Lil’ Wayne’s actions during an interview with Big Boy’s Neighborhood, saying, “We did the song with great intentions."
"I never thought it was going to get so much attention,” Future explained. “But I think, overall, with the whole situation, he did bring light, in a positive way, to what happened. Even though they might thought it was negative, he brought positive energy to the situation because a lot of people don't know, my dad didn't even know who Emmett was. He's thinking I'm talking about Emmitt Smith. ... He raised awareness to people who didn't even know who Emmett Till is to young kids who didn't even know what happened to him. ... After Lil Wayne brought light to it, they had to go and do their research."
Future echoed similar sentiment during an interview with MTV News, again saying, Lil’ Wayne “had no bad intentions.”
“It was a hot song, we did it from a good place with great intentions, just to add some life on to the song,” Future said.
“The record it was done from a good place, good art, he ain’t have no bad intentions when he was thinking about it like that.”
PepsiCo said in a statement, "We do not plan any additional work with Lil’ Wayne moving forward. His offensive reference to a revered civil rights icon does not reflect the values of our brand."
Sarah Cunningham, a rep for Lil’ Wayne’s record label Young Money released a statement, saying the split was due to "creative differences" and that it was an amicable parting.
"That's about all I can tell you at this time," she said.
News of Lil’ Wayne’s firing comes only a day after the “B*tches Love Me” rapper wrote a letter to the Till family apologizing for the offensive line.
“Moving forward, I will not use or reference Emmett Till or the Till family in my music, especially in an inappropriate manner,” he wrote.
“Karate Chop” is not the first song Lil’ Wayne disrespected the slain Chicago teen.
Lil’ Wayne previously disrespected Emmett Till in 2007 on “Da Drought 3” mixtape in song “Swizzy.”
In “Swizzy,” Lil’ Wayne raps, “Beat up ya block yeah I get my Emmett Till on.”
These lines are highly offensive given the story behind Emmett Till.
Emmett Louis Till was a 14-year-old African American Chicago teen murdered in Mississippi in 1955 after allegedly whistling at a white woman. The teen was in the Mississippi Delta region visiting family members.
The event took place after Till allegedly showed friends a photograph of himself in an integrated school. Till said he had a white girlfriend to the young boys' disbelief. Till was dared by some of the local boys to talk to a white woman who was running a store.
A few days later after the incident, the woman’s husband Roy Bryant and half brother J.W. Milam arrived at the teen’s great-uncle’s house and took him to a barn, tortured him and gouged out one of his eyes. They shot the Chicago boy in the head, tied a cotton gin fan around his neck with barbwire and threw his body in the Tallahatchie River. His body was recovered three days later.
Till’s mother held an open casket funeral for the world to see the brutal nature of her son’s murder. Bryant and Milam were brought to trial for Till’s death and later acquitted. A few months later, the two boldly admitted to killing the teen in a magazine interview. Bryant and Milam were protected by double jeopardy, which prevents a defendant from being charged with the same crime after being acquitted.

  • T.I. came to Lil’ Wayne’s defense over hurtful lyrics said in Future’s song “Karate Chop.”
Lil’ Wayne came under fire after uttering a disparaging line about fallen Civil Rights icon Emmet Till.
In “Karate Chop,” Lil’ Tunechi raps, “Beat the pu**y up like Emmett Till.”
Weezy was subsequently axed from his Mountain Dew endorsement deal with PepsiCo.
During an interview with Hoodrich radio, T.I. said Lil’ Tunechi “ain’t mean no harm in what he said.”
“He was just kicking flav,” T.I.P. said. “You got to really be in our life and of our lifestyle to understand how we can kinda unplug and -- be on our own sh*t sometimes.”
PepsiCo said in a statement, "We do not plan any additional work with Lil’ Wayne moving forward. His offensive reference to a revered civil rights icon does not reflect the values of our brand."

  • Radio personality Star weighed in on the beef between Chief Keef and Soulja Boy.
There was no question in to which rapper the on-air talent was siding with.
“I fuck with Soulja Boy heavy,” Star told VladTV.
Star said he had no issue with Soulja Boy purportedly threatening Chief Keef.
    “SOD, my nigga.
“Blow your eyes through your snap back,” he said.
Chief Keef, he said, is a “fucking animal.”
    “He’s a savage,” he said.
Star said he doesn’t doubt Chief Keef’s street credibility.
“They are today’s Hip Hop animals. Not only are they talking it, to some extent, they have to live it.
“Even if they, themselves, don’t want to get on the front lines, they got goons around them. They got niggas trying to come up and get brownine points, so it’s either got to work itself out or be squashed,” he said.
Chief Keef subliminally added his two cents to the growing beef between GBE and SODMG.
The origin of the beef stems from GBE member BallOut stealing a chain from SOD front man Soulja Boy.
Chief Keef added more fuel to the fire, tweeting, “We Takin Chains And Bitches.”

This, however, isn’t the first time Chief Keef commented on the chain dilemma.
Chief Keef approved of BallOut’s thievery as he retweeted his fellow GBE associate’s twit pic of Soulja’s chain.

Shortly after retweeting BallOut’s pic, he wrote, “All this Fake ass Jewelery.”

BallOut boasted on popular social media site Twitter that he robbed Soulja Boy of his prized Jesus Piece gold chain.
“ME N My Niggas We Str8 Takn Shit #Squadddddddd
    “#HaHaHa

“N L.A. Pushin On Niggas Jus Too This Nigga @souljaboy Chain Des Niggas Fak As Shit I B Takin Shit #300shit,” BallOut wrote.

The “I Got A Bag” rapper even took to Instagram to post a photo of himself wearing the jewelry.
“#ForGotTooUpload #BossShit,” the caption on the photo read.

Is this an official declaration of war between GBE and SODMG camps? Sound off below.

  • “The idea behind 'love hate thing' is what comes with shine.Passive aggressive hate from those closest to u. I feel like everybody can relate" - Wale, "Love Hate Thing

Wale is reinventing a powerful genre.
Fusing his brand of spoken word with classic soul, the “Bad” artist released his latest single “Love Hate Thing” featuring Sam Dew Monday morning to positive reviews.
Twitter user @GetLike_Bri commented, “In love with @wale 'Love Hate Thing' Such a good song. That beat literally moved my soul.”
    Wale replied, “New black soul.”

Wale went on to describe the deeper meaning behind the single.
“The idea behind 'lovehate thing' is what comes with shine.Passive aggressive hate from those closest to u. I feel like everybody can relate,” he wrote.

In “Love Hate Thing,” Wale raps, “As you reaching your goals, you gon' meet you some foes/ Having dinner with Leonsis I'm dreaming to own/ But for now me and my homies see the bottom floor/ I'm trying to redefine the culture, and a bigger soul/ Women in town but I manifesting every goal.”
Soul is a powerful, original genre innovated by African Americans. The genre has been somewhat fazed out in today’s music industry.
Wale aims to bring it back with a little twist.
“I’m tryna bring some soul thru the door.
“'That new black soul’ Monday morning,” he wrote.

Wale knows his new music will propel him to the top.
“They gon love u a Lil different when u at the top,” he wrote.

“Love Hate Thing” will appear on Wale’s upcoming album “The Gifted,” which is slated to drop June 25.

  • Pop sensation Katy Perry is not a fan of Chief Keef.
The “California Girls” singer took to Twitter to comment on the Interscope artist’s latest single “Hate Being Sober.”
“Just heard a new song on the radio called ‘I hate being sober’ I now have serious doubt for the world,” she wrote.

In “Hate Being Sober,” Chief Keef and guest collaborators 50 Cent and Wiz Khalifa profess their love for drugs and alcohol.
Chief Keef, whose birth name is Keith Cozart, apparently hates being sober for he was caught smoking marijuana in an Atlanta hotel room Monday.
The Chicago native was arrested at the LeMeridan Hotel at 111 Perimeter Center West in Dunwoody, north of Atlanta, a spokesman for the Dunwoody Police Department told the Chicago Tribune.
Chief Keef, whose real name is Keith Farelle Cozart, was booked in the DeKalb County Jail at 4:37 p.m. and released on his own recognizance around 3:20 a.m. today, the Tribune reports.
The “I Don’t Like” rapper issued a statement via his Twitter account.
“Jus Got Out Of Dekalb County jail In Atlanta Mad As fuck,” he wrote.

The rapper posted his mug shot onto his Instagram account.
