My perception,
Realistically its a fantasy because honestly...
They're not ready for me.
Not ready for a caramel colored Boss,
Qualified, they terrified because I'm legit.
Work gets harder and harder and I refuse,
To stop moving.
You thought I would say "Quit",
See what I mean?
I didnt step out that box, I ran.
Thats how it all got started,
Me running things, because I ran out of the box they set for me.
Im too big, too strong.
Correction,
My G-D is too big and make no mistakes I am His,
And He is mine.
I was born this way, it didnt happen over time.
Their perception of me is Simple.
Offended.
Yeah, Im offended.
Nothing is simple about me.
Too complex.
Call me Labryth because you wont get to my center without a fight.
Descendant of the Phoenix,
Out of the ashes you thought you made of me,
I arose with the flame of intensity.
Call me a Nigga. Please.
Because then I can show you what us NIGGAS do.
We make dreams out of nightmares,
Silk outta "nappy" hair.
And only a NIGGA can take a "whippin" and keep on tickin.
Call me girl when clearly you can see, Im a Grown Ass Woman.
Say I'm ignorant and watch me speak circles around you,
Eliquently assault you with my genius.
Look at me like a thief and watch me steal your supremacy.
Dismiss my presence the first time.
Thats ok.
Next time you see me and I'll be checking your timesheet,
Cause I WILL be your boss.
Perception.
I wrote this poem because today I was pissed off.
Im Black and I love it.
Educated and I love it.
Be afraid, Be Very Afraid...
Cause a NIGGA surpassed your perception.
