110 People Shot In Chiraq In First 10 Days of 2016

The people of Chicago continue to be stricken with a case of the Windy City Blues. Gun violence continues to plague the city now dubbed “Chiraq” and shows no signs of stopping.

There have been at least 110 people shot in the first 10 days of 2016, according to DNAinfo.com. Seventeen victims died from their injuries.

This is reportedly 2 ½ times the number of people shot during the same period last year.

This number includes two teens who were killed by a store clerk during a robbery in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

This time last year, nine people were killed and another 31 wounded by gunfire, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Priest Michael Pfleger of Auburn Gresham’s St. Sabina Church expressed outrage at violence in a Facebook post.

He wrote, “In the First 10 days of January 19 People have been KILLED and 101 WOUNDED…That’s nearly 2 per day killed and 10 a day Wounded……And the City thought a Movie called CHI-RAQ would give Chicago a BAD name….How about Corruption, cover-up, and the fact that we are the Deadliest City in America……..?”
