Missing South Side Chicago Baby, Amierah Roberson, Found Dead

The body of a missing toddler found in a Riverdale park was confirmed to be that of Amierah Roberson, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

The 19-month-old baby was reported missing Sunday, March 16.

Amierah’s death is ruled a homicide as a result of subdural hematoma and closed head injuries due to an assault, the Cook County medical examiner’s officer told the Chicago Tribune.

Authorities are currently studying surveillance footage that shows a suspect carrying a bag at the site where Amierah’s body was dumped, CBS Chicago reports.

Amierah was in the care of her mother’s boyfriend when she went missing, according to CBS Chicago. The boyfriend reportedly left the child unattended for a short while only to return and find the child gone.

The mother was at work during the child’s disappearance.

Bernadette Madison, Amierah’s grandmother, is finding it difficult to come to terms with news of her granddaughter’s death.

“I’m still trying to absorb it all,” she told ABC 7. “I know it’s true, but again I’m still in awe and disbelief.”

Investigators, according to NBC Chicago, are questioning the mother and boyfriend.
