Armed Robbers Break into Georgia Tech Student’s Dorm

A Georgia Tech student awoke early Sunday morning to find two robbers in his dorm stealing his laptop and cell phone, CBS Atlanta reports.

The robbers pointed a gun at 20-year-old Taylor Kelly after he confronted them and asked them what they were doing. Kelly told Channel 2 Action News the suspects threatened to “shoot” him dead if he moved.

The robbers took off with the student’s belongs. The student was uninjured

The robbers were able to gain entry inside the North Avenue Apartments around 1 a.m.

Georgia Tech student Aaron Joel told CBS Atlanta he believes someone let the robbers in. Residents must key in to gain access into the apartments.

Student Sarah Graham told CBS Atlanta “it was pretty scary to know people can get in here. I think it has to do with people letting each other in because it’s just like, ‘Hey, I don’t have my card,’ so I guess it’s just people who didn’t realize they didn’t go here.”

The assailants are described as black men in their late teens or early 20s, The Atlanta Journal- Constitution reports. One was wearing a white t-shirt and red basketball shorts. He was armed with the handgun. The second suspect had short dreadlocks, a black hat, khaki tan shorts and a black backpack.

Anyone with information regarding this incident, they are asked to contact the Georgia Tech police department at 404-894-2500 or email crimetips@police.gatech.edu.
