Bobby Shmurda Held In Protective Custody In Manhattan Detention Center AKA The Tombs

Bobby Shmurda is being held in protective custody at the Manhattan Detention Center aka The Tombs, DNAinfo reports. The 20-year-old Epic Records artist, born Acquille Pollard, was also reportedly in PC at Rikers Island before he was transferred to his current location.

Bobby’s attorney Kenneth Montgomery reportedly shed some light on the reasoning behind his client being in PC.

“Anyone who has any type of notoriety, from a liability standpoint, Corrections is probably going to put them in some sort of protective custody,” he said.

Bobby’s current predicament has nothing to do with alleged reports of him being stabbed by his cellmate.

Huzlers can be credited for putting the story out there. It must be noted Huzlers bills itself as the “most notorious urban satirical entertainment website with the most shocking headlines and articles.”

“It’s nothing but rumors, man,” he told Billboard. I’m good. Everybody knows I’m good. I’m chilling. We over here — we over here thugging it out, man. [Laughs].”

Bobby’s life is still threatened at this point in his career. The 20-year-old Brooklyn native is facing up to 40 years in prison on charges of conspiracy, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon and criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Bobby Shmurda and GS9 were arrested Dec. 17 after a recording session at Quad Studio. Their arrests follow a long-term investigation by the NYPD for their suspected involvement in gang-related shootings and drug trafficking in NYC, according to the New York Daily News. Police reportedly seized 21 guns during their investigation, 10 of them during the crew’s highly publicized arrests.
