Detroit’s own Danny Brown believes there are two artists reigning supreme in Hip Hop at the current moment. Those two MCs, according to Brown, hail from Los Angeles and the Chi.

The “Monopoly” rapper provided fans the opportunity to ask him any question via a Reddit thread.

One fan asked Brown whom he felt was “the best rapper in the game right now.”

Brown replied, “Kendrick or Chief Keef.”



Kendrick Lamar has been instrumental in revitalizing West Coast Hip Hop, while Chief Keef reached stardom after popularizing the Chicago drill sound.

Kendrick Lamar bolstered support amongst fans for his contention for the Hip Hop throne after his controversial verse on Big Sean’s “Control” surfaced on the net.

Kendrick shook the Hip Hop-sphere after proclaiming himself the King of New York, while taking shots at several MCs in the game, including Drake, J. Cole and Wale.



Chief Keef has been a controversial figure on his own accord. Chief Keef is currently prepping the release of the “Almighty So” mixtape, which is slated to drop Oct. 12.
