The tragic murder of Jasmine Curry, a pregnant mother of five, sent shockwaves through the city of Chicago. Curry suffered a gunshot to the head while driving on the Dan Ryan Expressway Wednesday at 4 a.m. in Chicago, according to ABC7 Chicago. The shooting occurred when a gunman in another vehicle opened fire on her blue minivan, according to the Chicago Sun Times.



Rising Chicago Dreezy admonished Curry’s killing and opened up on the violent epidemic crippling her hometown in a lengthy, intimate open letter posted to her IG account:

“I wake up and to see a mother of 5 killed in a drive by this morning…It was just another dead body on my corner the other day!!! It seem like it ain’t no hope for my city nomo…How we steady killing our own f-cking ppl? Who gone raise our children to be future leaders if you not?

“If y’all ain’t gone step up the plate…I am. Chicago is so brainwashed into thinking everything negative…Is cool. You’re NOT a savage. You’re NOT a shooter. You’re a F*CKING goofy…These kids become killers before they become teachers. I can’t even smoke outside my crib without thinking somebody gone pull up and start shooting…BECAUSE IT HAS HAPPENED. Y’all n-ggas comfortable being broke. Comfortable plotting…



“…On the next man for a meal instead of getting tf up and doing something wit yo self. Every n-gga wanna rap…Don’t nobody wanna job nomo. Nobody wanna feel like a b-tch. Curry’s death follows a violent surge of shootings over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. There were a total of 82 shootings and 16 shootings deaths from Thursday to early Monday morning.
