One of the students accused in the hazing death of FAMU marching band member Robert Champion held a press conference with his parents Thursday.
Brian Jones, 23, of Parish, CA, sat quietly during the conference as his parents spoke about arrest. He was booked at Hillsborough County jail Wednesday night and released on $15,000 bond, WTSP reports.
Jacquelin Jones, Brian’s mother, said she raised her son “to do the right thing.” She asked that her son be given a “fair opportunity to be heard when the time comes in a fair manner.”
Brian’s father Paul Jones called his son’s arrest “shocking.”
Jones, who has no previous criminal record, faces a maximum of six years in prison if convicted under Florida’s felony hazing statute, WTSP reports.
