Gunman Opens Fire in Toronto Mall, 1 Dead

A gunman opened fired in a food court in one of Canada’s most popular malls Saturday killing a man and injuring seven other people.

The suspect, who has not been apprehended, shot six people total in Eaton Centre, according to police constable Victor Kwong. Other individuals were reportedly trampled as chaos ensued.

Police Chief Bill Blair told The Associated Press investigators have a description of the suspect and will be “relentless in our pursuit of the individual or individuals that were responsible.”

“Any place for discharging a firearm in Toronto is dangerous. In the food court of the Eaton Centre on a Saturday evening, it’s not only dangerous, it’s outrageous,” he said. “I believe every Torontonian is shocked and appalled by this crime.”
