Harlem Residents Slam ‘Harlem Shake’ Videos

Harlem is burning. Burning mad, that is.

Chris McGuire took to the famous 125th street in Harlem to interview residents on their thoughts on the recent “Harlem Shake” videos that have hit the net.

The videos are confusing given that none of the participants are actually doing the “Harlem Shake,” a dance one of the interviewees said requires “rhythm.”

The new videos shows people wildly moving their bodies to the “Harlem Shake,” a song by DJ and producer Baauer.

“Interesting because I don’t think it’s culturally related to the original Harlem shake,” a woman on camera said.

“It looked like they smoked some dust,” another interviewee said.

Some of the interviewees even hit the original Harlem shake below.

Is it disrespectful to take an African American cultural dance that originated in New York and make a mockery out of it? Sound off below
