Radio personality Jacque Reid interviewed a former MIAKA member on the Tom Joyner Morning show.
Reid spoke with Texas A&M student Louis White regarding the alleged lawsuit where some members of the auxiliary group are threatening to sue Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for barring them from acceptance into the group.
White told Reid he “pledged” miAKA and was the “deuce club” of his line. But White says the group wasn’t what he really “thought it was going to be.”
“When they first brought me in, it was under false pretenses it was another organization,” he said. “When I got to my so-called dean’s house and that’s when I was introduced.”
Reid doesn’t “believe” in the alleged lawsuit because it’s not what he stood for. He initially joined because he wanted to perform “community service.”
“I thought I was helping my school and bettering my school,” he said. “They told me it was a school organization.”
The group, he said, was initially called the “AKAdemia Society.” White said his counterparts were wearing pink and green, throwing up their pinkies and yelling the sorority’s call.
During the radio segment, White expressed to Reid that he is interested in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., the first African-American fraternity founded at a Historically Black College University. Dedicated to its principles of manhood, scholarship, perseverance and uplift, the fraternity has been very active in the communities they serve.
Notable members in the fraternity include Rev. Jesse Jackson, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Steve Harvey and Steve Harvey.
