Jimmy Wopo was a prominent rap figure in his hometown of Pittsburgh. Jimmy was one of two people shot in Pittsburgh’s Middle Hill neighborhood Monday. Jimmy was taken to the hospital in critical condition but died from his injuries.

Pittsburgh police say the second victim is listed in stable condition.

Family and friends held a candlelight vigil in his honor at West Penn Park, Polish Hill at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Footage of the event shows the persons present singing and dancing to his music.

Jimmy’s manager, Taylor Maglin, confirmed the rapper’s death on Facebook.

“I lost my brother today and it’s the worst feeling in the world,” Jimmy wrote. “He was destined for greatness and he wanted the best for his friends, family and community. We lost a great person today, but just know I will do everything in my power to make his memory live on forever. Love you bro #LongLiveWopo.”
