Judge Delays Decision in George Zimmerman Bond Hearing

Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester didn’t make a decision in George Zimmerman’s bond hearing Friday.


Lester revoked Zimmerman’s bond after he learned about the neighborhood watchman lying about available finances. Zimmerman’s website generated more than $135,000, prosecutors argued.


Prosecutors assert Zimmerman and wife Shellie Zimmerman misled the court and even talked in code in jailhouse calls to conceal available funds.


The court charged Shellie with perjury earlier this month. She was released on $1,000 bond and her arraignment is scheduled for July 31, The Washington Post reports.


Zimmerman’s ethics have been in question during the whole case. At his first bond hearing, he lied about his knowledge of Martin’s age.


“I wanted to say I am sorry for the loss of your son,” Zimmerman told Martin’s parents on the witness stand. “I did not know how old he was. I thought he was a little bit younger than I am. I did not know if he was armed or not.”


In 911 audio, George Zimmerman, 28, told an emergency police dispatcher Martin was in his “late teens.”


Zimmerman even appeared to make an insensitive joke in a jailhouse call with his wife.
Zimmerman and his wife discussed renting vehicles for his safety and anonymity. Shellie told him he could lie down in the car.


Zimmerman then joked, “Yeah, exactly. Well, I have my hoodie.”


Zimmerman was free 44 days following the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. He was charged with second-degree murder and booked into the Seminole County jail, but was granted bail in his bond a little over a week later.
