Kanye West sat down with WGCI, where he apologized for comments he made regarding slavery during his TMZ interview.

“I don’t know if I properly apologized for how that slave comment made people feel,” he said. “I wanna take this moment right now to say that I’m sorry for hurting. I’m sorry for the one, two effect of the MAGA hat into the slave comment. I’m sorry for people who felt let down by that moment. Also, I appreciate you guys giving me the opportunity to talk to you about what the way I was thinking and what I was going through. I appreciate you guys holding onto me as a family. One thing I got from the TMZ comment is it showed me how much my people loved me.
Kanye told TMZ that slavery was a choice, and received instant backlash.

“When you hear about slavery for 400 years,” he said during an interview that took place at its headquarters. “For 400 years? That sounds like a choice.”
