Kanye West will allegedly to respond to shots thrown by Jay Z on the “4:44” album as revealed on The Joe Budden Podcast.
Jay took a dig at Ye in “Kill Jay Z,” rapping, “You walkin’ around like you invincible, you dropped outta school, you lost your principles/I know people backstab you, I felt bad too/But this ‘f— everybody’ attitude ain’t natural/But you ain’t the same, this ain’t KumbaYe/But you got hurt because you did cool by ‘Ye/You gave him 20 million without blinkin”/He gave you 20 minutes on stage, f— was he thinkin’?/’F— wrong with everybody?’ is what you sayin’/But if everybody’s crazy, you’re the one that’s insane.”
Joe’s co-host told listeners he ran into Ye in Los Angeles he was told about the upcoming track.
“Funny story — I don’t like name dropping,” the co-host said. “I had a cool little conversation with Kanye in L.A. he said he gotta a few words in response to what JAY had on 4:44 when his next record is coming out.
“There’s some malice,” he continued. “He wasn’t smiling. He was smiling before that conversation started. He said some funny s—. He said, ‘Yeah man I was next to JAY for years standing right next to him why he didn’t give me no jewels he put on the album?’ He was like, ‘Damn he could have schooled me to all of this s— when I was right next to him.’
Kanye West left Tidal after alleging Jay Z owes him more than $3 million, according to TMZ.
Ye’s attorney reportedly sent a letter to Jay Z a month ago, saying Tidal was in breach and the contract was terminated, sources told TMZ. After two weeks of talks, both sides failed to come to an agreement, and West’s people again sent over documents declaring the contract officially done.
Ye was upset with Jay for not paying him his bonus for contributing to over a million subscribers to Tidal with the exclusive release of “The Life of Pablo.” Ye also said Tidal didn’t reimburse him for music videos.
Tidal isn’t letting Ye walk away from his contract that easy, and has threatened to sue him. Ye told Tidal he’d make sure to countersue if that does happen.
