Eight members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. have been charged with hazing two Youngstown University students.
Felony charges were filed Feb. 15 by city officials.
16 Arrests warrants were issued against the men for felonious assault, according to police reports. Their ages range in between 21 and 32.
Only one suspect is a student at the university. The other seven are former students at the university.
Students Resean M. Yancey, 20, and Breylon Stubbs, 22, are listed as victims in the hazing. Yancey was hospitalized for serious injuries after being repeatedly beaten, authorities said.
City Prosecutor Jay Macejko said both men were beaten with fists and various objects over an extended period beginning in early January, vindy.com reports.
He also said one of the victims sought medical attention sought two separate occasions, and the other victim sought medical attention once and was placed on a respirator while in the hospital.
The fraternity is currently under suspension at the university.
