Michael Mays – one of three suspects charged in the murder of L’A Capone – has been officially transferred to state prison. Mays, 24, was admitted into Stateville Correctional Center on Thursday, March 30.

Mays was sentenced to 24 years in prison with an expected release date of August 8, 2041. His project parole date was scheduled for August 6, 2038.

Mays joins Meiko Buchanan who was sentenced to 45 years in prison. Buchanan is serving his time at Menard Correctional Center – the same prison where Capone’s Team600 brothers RondoNumbaNine and Cdai are incarcerated.

Third suspect Sakhee Hardy-Johnson was found guilty for his role in Capone’s murder in February. He has yet to be sentenced.

Johnson, at age 17, provided a statement to police upon his arrest admitting to getting a gun before going to the studio where L’A Capone was murdered, according to Chicago Sun Times. He also admitted to being inside a parked vehicle “that would run interference in the event that police officers arrived on scene.”

Buchanan, 25, confessed to the crime while in custody awaiting trial on unrelated charges of aggravated battery of a peace officer and aggravated use of a weapon, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Buchanan’s role in the murder was driver of the “trail car,” a vehicle that follows the lead car containing the gunman, Assistant State’s Attorney Alex Molesky told the Tribune.

Buchanan allegedly said he pulled into the alley and watched the gunman sneak up on L’A and shoot him twice.

The alleged rival gang members had an ongoing dispute with Capone, Molesky said in court, according to the Tribune.

Capone’s mother Dedra Morris, aka Momma Capone, has been active in her mission to get justice for her son.

She took to IG in late October to reveal Mays was found guilty in her son’s murder.

The caption on her post read, “[Two] down, [one] more to go. It’s so sad how young ppl do things that they will later regret. I’m glad it’s almost over but sad that so many ppl are hurt behind this #Justice4LA.”
