Lil Bibby Says Bump J Influenced His Music

Lil Bibby’s musical style can be attributed to a variety of Hip Hop influences. The “Free Crack” rapper sat down with Hot 97 to discuss his musical influences.

Bibby regarded his musical influences as Drake, Jada Kiss, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne and Gucci Mane.

But the East Side native also gave a shout out to home base, saying Bump J was also an influence.

Bump J, born Terrence Boykin, was an aspiring rap artist who generated much buzz in the underground circuit before he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his involvement in a bank robbery in 2009.

The heist netted the rapper and accomplices over $100,000.

Bump J’s music helped lay the groundwork for putting Chicago music on the map.

Lil Durk even paid homage to the incarcerated rapper via social media.

“Free bump dey cant hold a real nigga 4eva,” he wrote.

Lil Durk isn’t the only rapper to wish freedom for the incarcerated street legend. Kanye West famously shouted Bump J out on Chief Keef’s “I Don’t Like” remix.

“Free Bump J, real nigga for life,” West raps.

Kanye, according to the “Chief of Chicago” rapper, helped pay for his lawyer.

“Kanye is a good friend of mine,” Bump J told Fakeshore Drive. He helped pay for my lawyer and he’s making sure my books are straight while I’m in here.”
