Lil Durk Supports Put The Guns Down Movement: ‘Get Some Money and Education’

Lil Durk is supporting the “Put The Guns Down” initiative in his hometown of Chicago. Chicago, or Chiraq, has long been plagued by gun violence.

Warm weather has recently sparked an uptick of violence in 2014.

Durk called for others to chase money and an education rather than shoot in a message posted to social media.

“Even doe we live and roc in the streets of Chicago stop the violence put the guns down I don’t promo violence I just rap fax,” he wrote on Twitter.

Lil Durk recently suffered tragedy after losing his cousin and aspiring rapper OTF NuNu to gun violence and hate.

NuNu, aka Nuski, was shot multiple times as he was sitting in his vehicle in a parking lot outside of Chatham Village Square mall at Cottage Grove and 87th Streets, according to the Chicago Tribune. He died at the scene. He was 21.

Lil Durk has long been an advocate of the “Stop The Violence” movement. He also previously defended his lyrics against critics who say his music promotes violence.

Durk posted an image of a “Stop The Violence” mural to his IG account with a caption, reading, “Don’t blame me for rappin the truth and telling my story about my city #stv.”

Lil Durk is now inching closer to the release of his much-anticipated mixtape “Signed To The Streets 2,” which is slated to drop June 18.
