Lil Reese To Pen Tribute Song For Slain Florida Teen Jordan Davis

Lil Reese will honor slain Florida teen Jordan Davis with a planned tribute record. John Phillips, an attorney for the Davis’ family, requested the talents of Reese in honor of the 17-year-old victim that was killed for listening to the Def Jam rapper’s music.

“I see you awake @LilReese300. Can we get a tribute rap soon for young #JordanDavis? The family would be honored,” Phillips wrote Reese.

Reese confirmed he would pen the song after screenshotting Phillips’ request in an IG post.

“The lawyer for Jordan Davis case I gotta show dese people love rip 2 dayoung man…#300,” the caption on his post read.

Lil Reese was devastated upon learning the circumstances leading to young Davis’ death. The “10 Steps Ahead” rapper learned the teen was murdered following an argument with a middle aged white man over loud music. It was Reese’s song “Beef” featuring Lil Durk and Fredo Santana that spurred the verbal confrontation between Davis and 47-year-old Michael Dunn.

Reese was first dumfounded by news of his song being at the center of Davis and Dunn’s verbal spat.

The “Supa Savage” rapper posted a news article to his Twitter account with the message, “Trippin.”

Reese eventually left his state of shock after he verified the news.

“So it’s Tru a kid got kilt for playin my shit in Florida,” wrote on Twitter.

“Shit real,” he added in the caption of his IG post.

Phillips messaged Reese, writing, “His birthday would have been Sunday. I’m the family’s lawyer.”

Reese sent his condolences to the Davis family a day following the conclusion of Dunn’s trial.

“My prayers go out 2da kid family who was kill for playin my music Loudd…#300,” he wrote.

“This for the Jordan Davis case…#300,” the caption on his IG post read.

The family of Jordan Davis didn’t get the justice they hoped for following the senseless killing of their only child. A jury ended up deadlocked on a decision to convict 47-year-old Michael Dunn of first-degree murder.

Dunn, however, was convicted of three counts of attempted murder. Each charge carries a minimum sentence of 20 years.

Davis was with three friends inside a parked SUV outside a Jacksonville convenience store gas station when Dunn and fiancé Rhona Rouer parked alongside their vehicle.

Dunn complained the youths were playing their music too loudly and asked they turn it down.

An argument soon followed between both parties. Dunn alleged he saw a shotgun barrel from Davis” car before he produced a handgun and sprayed nine bullets into the SUV, striking Davis three times, according to CNN.

No weapon was found in Davis’ vehicle upon investigation.

Dunn and his fiancé fled the crime scene and drove back to their hotel 40 miles south to St. Augustine, CNN reports. Dunn never notified authorities, but instead ordered pizza, took his dog for a walk, ordered a movie and poured a glass of rum and Coke.

Davis’ family will be closely following Dunn’s first-degree murder retrial. Davis’ father Ronald Davis told BET the attempted murder convictions “do not equate to justice.”

“I wasn’t satisfied with the verdict,” Davis said. “I know he’s getting 60 years in jail. But I want the state of Florida to record that he was responsible for killing Jordan. I want the law to say that Michael Dunn was wrong.”
