It’s very rare to see a rapper and a comedian throw jabs at each other. But the world is seeing a debate brewing between rapper Lupe Fiasco and comedian D.L. Hughley. Unlike a traditional rap beef, these two entertainers’ disagreement may actually lead to a positive outcome.
Hughley took issue with the “Kick Push” artist’s stance on voting.
“He’s bright as hell, but dumb in the ways of the world,” Hughley told Hot 93.7/ Hartford. “Young black men are going to listen to him. They are the ones who have decisions made for them, [decisions] that they are not even involved in, which is silly to me.”
Lupe took to Twitter to call Hughley’s bluff on whether the comedian cares about sparking real change in the rural and urban communities. He first thanked the comedian for recognizing his “power of the word.”
“so instead of dissing or saying f**k you DL Hughley. I say thank you 4 recognizing my power. The power of the word. the power of HIP-HOP,” he wrote.
Lupe then asked the Hughley to put his money where his mouth is.
“Better yet @RealDLHughley you put up 50k and I’ll put up 50k and let’s flesh out some programs for rural & inner city youths our damn selves,” he wrote.
Lupe told Hughley he doesn’t have to “wait till November” or be a part of political party to accept his proposal.
The Chicago native told Hughley to leave him alone if he is not ready to “drop that bread for these babies out here.”
