Brian McKnight caused a firestorm months ago after releasing his raunchy “If Ur Ready To Learn” track. Fans, who were used to McKnight’s slow melodies, were not willing to download the x-rated single to their mp3 players.

Even McKnight’s mom wasn’t too sure about the “Anytime” singer’s song. But McKnight revealed he sat his mother down for a listening session and played the song for her.

“I played it for my mom after the church folk started getting on her,” McKnight told 94.7 The Wave. “I was like, ‘Ma, listen, let me play it for you. I’ve known you all my life, understand where I’m coming from.”

His mother, McKnight said, eventually accepted his song.
