Montana of 300 Says Spike Lee’s ‘Chiraq’ Film Wasn’t Handled Right

Montana of 300 has yet to view Spike Lee’s controversial “Chi-Raq” film. The Chi Town rapper says the film’s trailer didn’t impress him.

Montana sat down with DJ Suss One of The Featured Presentation Radio Show to express his thoughts on the project.

“I haven’t watched it,” he said. “I honestly don’t plan on watching it. You know how you watch some previews to a movie, you either like this looks real good, I wanna go see it, or it’s like it don’t look that interesting. I’ma pass on it. You don’t get really mad at a preview. That’s really how I felt. It wasn’t handled at all with care to me. I feel like, even if it wasn’t going to have the name ‘Chiraq,’ it was already pre-made like this how it’s going to be. I feel like if you’re going to take the name ‘Chiraq,’ especially while it has this attention on it and Chicago is doing so bad, I think it could’ve been used in so many ways to reach out to some of the big names in Chicago to get a feel of what it really is opposed to making it look like a cheesy Grand Theft Auto game. At the same time, I understand it was his movie. He gonna do it the way he wants to do it. He’s going to make his money and stuff like that. It’s still respect, but I feel like he could’ve executed it in different ways.”
