Fro-lific, a Columbus-based group for women with natural, presented young women at the Booker T. Washington center of Girl’s Inc. with natural hair Barbie dolls.
The center, a nonprofit organization that aims to empower young girls across the country, partnered with Fro-lific to teach the girls the value of self-esteem.
Fro-lific collected African-Americans Barbies during a doll drive and transformed the dolls’ hair into natural hair styles.
CNN reports the women wanted to teach the girls that they are worth more than just their hair.
