Papoose Says Hip Hop Is Becoming Effeminized

Papoose evoked strong emotions with the response to Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse.

The “Turn It Up” rapper sat down with “This Is 50’s” Young Jack Thriller to discuss the hard-hitting lyrics that disparage not only K dot, but also Kanye West and Drake.

In the “Control” freestyle, Papoose raps:

“Back when we was slaves they used to cut off our balls/Then stuffed ’em in our mouths, kept us away from the girls/Modern day slavery, now they put us in jail/A bunch of men in cells away from the females/This wasn’t done just because the color of skin/This was done cause they never wanted us to be men/Kendrick, Kanye, Drake, they all act feminine/Wear a lot of clothes you usually see women in/So the mainstream America finds it interesting.”

Papoose slammed the fashion choices of Kanye West, who most notably wore a skirt during a concert performance.

West’s attire drew wise cracks from fellow entertainers Cam’ron and Chris Brown.

“Pyrex and a skirt? Sh*t ain’t adding up and if you co-sign I’m blocking you. Straight up! I’ma have to save us,” Cam’ron wrote on Twitter.

Chris Brown commented on a Nicole Bitchie blog post, writing, “That sh*t suspect. Can’t get with that swag. N*ggas gone be wearing heels next.”

Rapper Styles P of the Lox took issue with Hip Hop entertainers dressing effeminate.

“When these guys do wear the skirts or their clothes that look like female clothes, I think they have to understand the impact they have on our culture,” the “Good Times” rapper said during an interview with VladTV.

Papoose commented that many comedians have to wear a dress to cross over.

Comedian Dave Chappelle echoed similar sentiment during an interview with Oprah.

“Why we always got to do that to be successful? Why we gotta sell our manhood? Why are these dudes bringing that into Hip Hop?” Papoose asked. “That’s never been allowed in our culture. To each his own, I don’t got nothing against nobody… why do we got to sacrificed that?”
