R&B crooner Brian McKnight recently caught a lot of flack for his song “If Ur Ready 2 Learn.” It had fans shocked and confused by it’s overly explicit lyrics.
McKnight, 42, sang “Let me show you how your p**sy works, bet you didn’t know that it could squirt. That’s a bit raunchy for his fan base that is accustomed to him singing songs like “I Remember You” and “Anytime.”
But McKnight thinks his fans are taking the song seriously for the wrong reason.
“This song was just a parody of the music that’s out today,” he said.
McKnight talks about the dying genre of R&B and says people have to support it to bring it back.
“I hear people say all the time there’s no real music, there’ no this there’s no that, but they’re not the ones that’s looking for the music that’s out there,” he said.
“There’s a lot of people out there making great music,” he said. “There are no labels out there that’s going to support it. There are no radio stations that still play it.
McKnight went on to say the current music industry plays of image, not talent.
“I was in a meeting with some guys and they said they signed a guy not because he had talent but because he had this awesome swagger and I knew that was the beginning of the end,” he said.
