R&B Singer Tyrese Gibson Releases ‘Black Rose That Grew From Concrete’

“But there was something about my imagination that never stopped. I never stopped myself from dreaming beyond my reality”
-Tyrese Gibson

R&B singer Tyrese released a personal documentary detailing his struggles and rise to success.

In “Black Rose That Grew From Concrete,” the Watts, CA native paints an intimate portrait of his life and journey from the hood to Hollywood.

The documentary was released on Easter Sunday. Tyrese may have chosen this day to symbolize Jesus’ rise from the grave with his rise from the streets.

Despite growing up in an environment ridden with drugs, poverty and violence, Tyrese credits his imagination for his will to make it out of his situation

“But there was something about my imagination that never stopped. I never stopped myself from dreaming beyond my reality,” he said.
