Slain Chicago Teen Joshua ‘JayLoud’ Davis Attended Lil’ JoJo’s Funeral

It was only a few months ago when Joshua “JayLoud” Davis attended the funeral of best friend Lil’ JoJo. Lil’ JoJo, born Joseph Coleman, was an aspiring rapper who was tragically murdered in a drive-by shooting as he was riding on the back pegs of a friend’s bike.

Coleman’s death came following a highly publicized rap beef with Interscope artist Chief Keef’s associates Lil’ Reese and Lil’ Durk. Coleman wrote “3HunnaK,” a controversial rap song taking aim at the Black Disciples street gang.

A photo shows JayLoud at the Lil’ JoJo’s funeral with a solemn look on his face. The 18-year-old would meet a similar sad fate on Christmas Day. The teen was murdered for allegedly wearing a hoodie paying homage to Lil’ JoJo.

Davis’ death came following an argument with several men on a CTA bus. The men chased Davis off of the bus and shot him several times in the torso and once in the head, authorities told the Chicago Sun-Times.

“He was killed because he was wearing a hoodie and getting off the bus,” the teen’s sister Selina Davis told Fox told Fox 32. “He was a great boy. He was only a baby.”

“It was my little brother. I was like the other half of my heart, man. And he gone now,” the slain teen’s brother Ricky Davis told Fox 32 as he fought back tears.

In a city that has surpassed 500 murders in 2012, the JayLoud’s tragic murder represents the grim fate of the Windy City’s countless young urban residents.

Sadly, the urban community receives little to no news coverage. It was only weeks ago when the city of Newton, Ct experienced a grave tragedy with the mass killing of 20 school children and six adults.

President Obama held a press conference and called for gun reform. He showed American citizens another side as he became emotional during the conference.

But many are asking where are the President’s tears for the black and Latino babies dying daily in the Windy city.

Civil Rights Leader Jesse Jackson took to Twitter to call for the President to tackle the “complex” issue gripping the city of Chicago.

“I’m so glad the president spoke out about Newtown. But Chicago is much more complex. 175 under 18 killed this year as of last night in Chi,” he wrote.
