Tiana Ricks’ funeral drew hundreds of mourners.
Tiana, 6, was with her father at a family gathering when shots rang out in an apparent gang-related shooting striking her in the shoulder. She succumbed to her injuries in a hospital.
Tiana’s death caught the attention of rappers Snoop Dogg and The Game who helped pay for her homegoing service.
Snoop Dogg called Tiana’s murder a “senseless tragedy.”
“RIP 6ry old Tiana from LBC recently killed. Such a senseless tragedy. We MUST do better. My condolences are with her family #nogunsallowed,” he wrote on Twitter.
The Game was very much affected by the tragedy and commented on the tragedy in a series of posts on Instagram:
“Couldn’t wait to get home & squeeze my little princess. Soon as I picked her up & hugged her…She pulled back & said ‘What’s wrong Daddy’…I looked into her eyes & replied ‘I’m just happy to be holding you right now Cali’…Little does she know, I am really saddened by Tiana’s passing. I can’t seem to get think about much else…But without taking you guys thru that emotional roller coaster again…I will

“This very sad story hit me in a place in a place nothing ever has. This picture above is of 6 year old ‘Tiana Ricks’ who was gunned down in Moreno Valley this past weekend holding onto her fathers leg as men approached & opened fire wounding both Tiana & her father …Tiana did not know she was shot & kept asking was her father okay until 2 1/2 hours later when Tiana was passed away just after midnite on,” the captions on the posts read.
Tiana was provided a pink and white horse-drawn carriage for her funeral. This theme fittingly symbolized the Disney movie “The Princess and the Frog,” whose main character in Princess Tiana.
Authorities are requesting anyone with information leading to the arrests of the culprits behind Tiana’s murder to contact the Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit at 951-955-2777 or the Moreno Valley Police Department at 951-486-6700.
