Social Media Blacking Out AVIs In Support Of Trayvon Martin

With the verdict in the George Zimmerman case approaching, supporters of slain teen Trayvon Martin are blacking our their profiles throughout social media.

Social media saw a similar action after many proponents of same-sex marriage changed their profile pictures to the red Human Rights campaign logo.

Martin, 17, met his demise after he was deemed suspicious by Zimmerman who was acting as neighborhood watch.

Zimmerman is on trial for a second-degree murder charge and could be sentenced to a minimum of 25 years without parole and a maximum of life in prison.

Judge Debra Nelson accepted the prosecution’s request of the lesser charge manslaughter, which could give Zimmerman up to a 30-year prison sentence.
