A student was raped in a janitorial closet during school hours in a Louisiana high school Tuesday afternoon, KSLA 12 reports.

The suspect, a 16-year-old boy, has been charged with forcible rape after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl at Booker T. Washington New Technology High School in Shreveport, LA.

Parents interviewed by KSLA 12were somewhat suspicious of the circumstances surrounding the rape allegations due to the incident occurring during school hours.

“…It seemed kind of strange for you to be forced into a closet or whatever, and you got a school full of kids,” Lashandra Thomas, who has a niece at the school, told KSLA 12.

Shreveport Police Detective Marcus Hines told KSLA 12 there is no evidence to support the victim being dishonest.

“There is not an issue with security at Caddo Parish schools,” Hines told KSLA 12. “There are security personnel, in addition to uniformed police officers at these schools. When you look at the actual size of the school, unfortunately you can’t be in every inch of the school at every time.”
