T.I. Reacts To Death Of Shawty Lo

Damn!!! I just woke up to some Bullshit News…RIP to a true Westside Atlanta Legend!!!!! You truly represented Bankhead to the fullest!!! My Heart goes out to his family, and his children as well. Even through our toughest times I must admit I was impressed,& kinda proud of how well you rep'd our hood, and how much you cared for it. It was a real relief to have someone else helping to lift Bankhead up & hold it there. Can't say enough about how much you meant to the city. Glad we matured beyond our trivial personal differences in time enough to have a laugh about it as neighbors. For those of us who were around & "in the mix" in the mid-late 90's,we know the "Legend of Lo" started waaaay before Music. We salute U G!!!! Rest easy,You'll truly be missed. #RIPShawtyLo #TrueAtlantaLegend

T.I. paid tribute to Shawty Lo today. Shawty Lo lost his life earlier this morning in a car crash. The “They Know” rapper, whose real name is Carlos Walker, died after he was ejected from his vehicle during a fiery single-car accident on I-285 in south Fulton County. He was 40 years old.

T.I.’s relationship with Shawty Lo wasn’t the best during the height of their careers. Shawty Lo questioned Tip’s street credibility, saying he wasn’t from Bankhead.

But the two southern rap stars would later call a truce.

T.I referred to Shawty as a “true Westside Atlanta Legend” in an IG post, saying he “represented Bankhead to the fullest.”

“My Heart goes out to his family, and his children as well. Even through our toughest times I must admit I was impressed,& kinda proud of how well you rep’d our hood, and how much you cared for it,” T.I. wrote. “It was a real relief to have someone else helping to lift Bankhead up & hold it there. Shawty Lo’s death sent shockwaves through the southern Hip Hop community.

Shawty Lo’s brother and manager, Johnny Cabell, was devastated by Shawty’s loss

“My brother has passed he is no longer here but his spirit, his kind heart, and his music will live on,” the post read. “Long live Shawty Lo King of Bankhead.”

“I am so so so devastated that words can not describe how I feel right now,” Cabell wrote in a statement. “Shawty Lo was not just my artist, he was my Brother. He was My Friend. I have been Lo MGR for over 10yrs. He was Loyal and he had my back when no one else did.”

“I could count on him when I had no one else to turn to,” Cabell continued. “We been thru so much together. If you knew Lo then you know he was genuine. He was Real he would do anything he could if he had it. I Genuinely love this man like my blood brother. I will keep his name alive and his music.”

Shawty Lo’s white Audi reportedly went over a guardrail, hit two trees and burst into flames. Two passengers in the vehicle were taken to a local hospital with injuries.

DJ Drama took to Twitter to send his condolences.

He wrote, “RIP Shawty Lo Prayers to his family and friends. ATown Legend.”

Shawty Lo is best known for his song “They Know.” He was a member of the rap group DFL with members Fabo, Mook-B and Stoney. The recorded the hit song “Betcha Can’t Do It Like Me.”
