Koopsta Knicca of Three 6 Mafia died from a stroke. He was 40.
DJ Paul issued a statement to Commercial Appeal referring to Koopsta as his “group member and brother for over 20 years.” Paul said Koopsta “went in peace.”
“Everyone who knew Koop knew he was very funny and the coolest guy ever,” he said. “He will be missed. We made classics together that’ll live on.”
Juicy J mourned the loss of Knicca on IG.
J posted an image of his Three 6 Mafia brother with a caption, reading, “R.I.P koopsta Knicca we made history! You will be missed #mafia4life prayers up for the family.”
Gangsta Boo also remembered Koopsta. On Twitter, she wrote, “Rest well Koopsta… it was one helluva journey.”

Koopsta Knicca, born Robert Cooper Phillips, was an original member the iconic Memphis group. Koopa Knicca released 10 solo albums before his demise. With Three 6 Mafia, he appeared on 12 projects.
In December 2013, Three 6 Mafia lost member Lord Infamous who died from a hert attack at age 40.
