A University of Southern Mississippi secretary has been charged with murder in the shooting death of her husband, The Associated Press reports.
Linda Doreen Gwozdz allegedly fatally shot her husband Patrick Albert Duffey in 2007.
Gwozdz was employed as the clinical secretary for the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences in the College of Health at the university.

The arraignment has been postponed until June 20th
Any chance they will reduce bail?
I seriously doubt that the bail will be reduced based on the seriousness of the charge. 1st degree means premeditated murder. Combine that with the fact that the death certificate lists the cause of death as “Multiple” gunshots to the head and the fact that her husband is a traveling professional musician, it is highly unlikely. I can see 1 GSW as being “accidental” but “Multiple”..No way!!

Nobody else was in the home at the time. Both boys were in school and Linda and Pat got off work early and were supposed to go out for lunch and return before the boys came home from school
People fail to realize that no one TRULY knows what goes on behind closed doors and outside of a marriage. Was she an abused woman, was she involved with another man? NO ONE knows but her and her late husband and he can’t speak for himself. This will all play out soon enough and a jury of her peers will decide if she is guilty or innocent. It is important to remember that the police would NOT arrest her unless they had substantial evidence pointing towards her guilt.
I knew Pat and he would never do such a thing. She had to have some kind of other alternate motive. Will be interesting to find out the facts that they found to rule it as premeditated. You do not get charged with Murder unless they are for sure you did it with intention.
I only met Pat a few times but he did not seem like a monster to me that would abuse her. I do know that the evidence is said to be “Significant” against her and they would not reduce the bail. I will post any update I hear later. Waiting on info from her Aunt (who is also MY Aunt)

I heard he was shocked when they showed up at the house and arrested her.
Her new husband had knowledge of the death and that it was accidental. I don’t think he knew that there was more to it than that. I think that he is in for a LONG trial.

I heard that Pat was cleaning his gun and accidentally shot himself in the head.
The arraignment is today. We shall see how it goes.

I don’t know a lot about guns. Any chance the bullet could fragment and appear like multiple gunshot wounds? She just doesn’t see like the kind of person who could do this.

Bail was not reduced. The preliminary hearing will be on July 30th to see if it will proceed to trial.
Tough situation. Here’s hoping for the best.

Yeah umm my dad dated her after she killed her husband. I was in her house. I went to church with them. I thought she was soo extremely kind. This is a shocker.
