Judge Orders Alpha Kappa Alpha To Reinstate 8 Suspended Members

A Washington D.C. judge ruled eight members of the nation’s oldest African American sorority were unjustly suspended following a dispute over allegations of the misappropriation of organization funds, according to the Washington Post.

The members took issue with Alpha Kappa Alpha’s leader Barbara McKinzie’s use of organization funds or personal use. The women filed a lawsuit against the sorority and McKinzie and were subsequently suspended.

One questionable spending habit of the former president was a statue erected in her image.

The judge reportedly recommended both parties settle. The parties involved can still appeal the decision.
