21 Savage is proving to little kids from impoverished communities that anything is possible. The Ninth Ward general is currently celebrating a major career milestone with the recent RIAA gold certification of “Issa Album” after moving 500,000 copies of the project.
The Atlanta rapper moved 77,000 units of his project in its first week in July, Billboard reports.
21’s sales allowed him to move into the No. 2 spot in Billboard’s 200 album chart. Jay Z bested 21 for the No. 1 spot after moving 222,000 units of “4:44.”
21 Savage moved 22,000 units in traditional album sales; 51,000 units through streaming equivalent albums (SEA); and 7,000 units through track equivalent albums (TEA).
21’s recent accolade is propelled by his platinum-selling song “Bank Account,” which peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.
21 also recently celebrated his first number one record for his collaborative song “Rockstar” with Post Malone.
21’s goal for “Issa Album” was to let fans know his story.
When promoting “Issa” on IG, 21 wrote, “just a street n---- with a dream..I don’t have to be the best or the richest I jus want y’all to hear my story because it’s real..ISSA OUT NOW !!”
