“He don’t like it, we don’t like it. I don’t like it if he don’t like it. If he say it, that’s law.”

Lil’ Wayne has sparked outrage with a comment he made regarding the Big Apple. Wayne sat down with MTV News as he was promoting his brand new sneaker line with Supra in Las Vegas.

“Flat out: I don’t like New York,” he said.

New York Senator Malcolm A. Smith took offense with Wayne’s comments and held a press conference to rebuke the Young Money Cash Money artist.

“Very simple, if you don’t like New York, you don’t have to come to New York, you don’t have to sell your products here and, perhaps, we won’t come to your concerts, Smith said. “I can tell you as someone who’s raised my family here, I’ve taken strong exception to the words, ‘I don’t like New York.’ I love this city. I was born and raised in this city…New Yorkers are forgiving people. We’re prepared to forgive Lil’ Wayne if, in fact, he makes a sincere apology.”

Wayne’s father Birdman is standing behind his son in the midst of the backlash he is receiving.

“I feel, personally, whatever my son say I’ma ride with so if he say he don’t like it then that’s just what it is,” Birdman said. “He don’t like it, we don’t like it. I don’t like it if he don’t like it. If he say it, that’s law.”
