Bobby Shmurda Issues Statement After Pleading Guilty To Conspiracy

Bobby Shmurda appears to be in good spirits despite receiving a 7-year sentence for murder conspiracy. Bobby was his usual animated self in a phone call from jail.

“MMB/GS9, it’s a f*****g takeover,” he said. “I’ll be home in three, man.”

Bobby, with credit for two years already served, could possibly be home in three and a half years, the rapper’s attorney Alex Spiro told The Fader.

Bobby pleaded guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy, which carries a sentence of one to three years, and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession, which carries a sentence of seven years, according to Billboard. The two charges will run concurrently, meaning Bobby will face a maximum of seven years in prison.

Bobby will also face five years of probation, according to TMZ.

Bobby faced 25 years to life in prison if convicted.

The plea deal was arguably in Bobby’s best interest to take. It also covers additional charges of “promoting prison contraband, perjury and criminal possession of a weapon” after his girlfriend, Kimberly Rousseau, tried to sneak him a knife during a visit, according to The Fader.

A jury was also less likely to show Bobby any mercy like his GS9 counterparts A-Rod and Rasha.

A-Rod, whose real name is Alex Crandon, was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 53 1/3 years in prison for conspiracy, murder, attempted murder and other charges.

Rasha, whose real name is Rashid Derissant was sentenced to 98 years on gang-related charges, including conspiracy, murder, attempted murder and assault.

Bobby wasn’t alone in accepting a plea deal. Bobby’s GS9 brothers Chad “Rowdy Rebel” Marshall and Nicholas McCoy also accepted a 7-year plea deal from the prosecution.
