A Chicago college student was fatally shot Thursday, Jan. 16, during a robbery in South Side Chicago.
Kevin Baker, a 19-year-old freshman at Harold Washington College, and his cousin Dominique, a senior at DePaul University, were approached by robbers that demanded their cellular devices, according to Chicago Tribune.
The robbers, CBS reports, emerged from a dark-colored van before approaching the two.
Baker and his cousin complied with orders, but the aspiring veterinarian was shot in the head and stomach.
Baker was taken to Christ Hospital where he was in critical condition, according to ABC Chicago. He succumbed to injuries Saturday.
There are currently no suspects in custody.
