South Side Chicago resident Lee McCollum, who starred in CNN’s multi-episode documentary “Chicagoland” in 2014, was shot and killed earlier today, DNAinfo reports.
McCollum, 22, was found early Thursday morning with a gunshot wound to the head in South Side Chicago.
In August 2014, McCollum was shot twice in the leg, according to the Chicago Tribune.
McCollum’s girlfriend Tiara Parks was murdered last month after she was shot in the head.
McCollum rose above poverty and violence as a teen to graduate from Fenger High School as a prom king, honor roll student and athlete.
“My two worries in life are not making it and not being successful and ending up on the streets being a bum,” he said in the documentary. “And the second is I want to be a father that can provide for his family.”
