Denzel Washington is no stranger to South Side Chicago. The New York native revealed in a popular online video he used to visit his family members in a South Side neighborhood.
Denzel was looking for Leon’s Bar’s Bar-B-Q in the 8600 block of South East End Avenue before walking onto the porch of an elderly woman, DNAinfo reports.
Denzel spoke with 86-year-old Juanita Hubbard and her family outside their home.
“I used to come here when I was 5,6, 7 years old. Right up the block: 86th and Harper,” he said.
Denzel said his cousins were members of the Blackstone Rangers street gang. His cousins, he said, would pick out kids his size for him to fight.
