El Chapo is in the custody of Mexican authorities after he was captured following a deadly shootout early Friday. But the infamous drug lord is returning back to the same maximum-security prison he escaped from last summer, CNN reports.
In July, El Chapo escaped from Altiplano Federal Prison in Almoloya de Juarez through an underground tunnel. Surveillance footage showed the drug kingpin escaping his cell after slipping through a hole in his shower.
This prison stint lasted less than two years for El Chapo after he was captured in the Mexican resort town of Mazatlan in February 2014.
The ruthless leader of the Sinaloa Cartel was on the run from authorities for more than decade after escaping from Puente Grande maximum-security prison in 2001. His method of escape– a laundry cart.
El Chapo might have a tougher time escaping this time around.
