Failed Assassination Attempt on President Obama

An Idaho man who has been linked to a shooting near the White House has been charged with attempting to assassinate the president or his staff. Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, 21, fired nine rounds from an assault rifle at the White last Friday night hitting a window in the process.

He was arrested at a Western Pennsylvania hotel Wednesday afternoon.

President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were away on travel at the time of the shooting.

Mr. Hernandez faces life in prison if convicted.
