The Chicago Hip Hop scene undeniably has the spotlight now. A slew of artists from the City have garnered a huge social media presence and heavy fan base.
South Side Chicago native G Count has been around long enough to watch the scene blossom.
Count shared his thoughts on the City’s burgeoning Hip Hop scene during an interview with BET.
“As far as the future of the Chicago Hip Hop scene, it’s getting bigger than it ever was,” he said. “We always had artists that slip out and get on. They usually have to get on from out of town.”
Chicago previously saw success with artists such as Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and Common.
“Now the scope on Chicago,” Count continued. “We able to stay here. I never seen rappers that’s on TV like we do now and still bumping to them. Like I’m bumping to these n-ggas in the streets. We was just on TV together…videos back to back. Then we still out here in the field. They coming hard cause they hungry. The morale boosted around it. Chicago really can get on. Everybody going hard. It’s gonna be a problem.”
