Ice Cube appeared on SiriusXM’s Sway In the Morning and he revealed another Friday film is in the works. He told Sway he was waiting for New Line Cinema to “cut a check.”
Sway played audio of Mike Epps talking about Chris Tucker potentially jumping onboard to appear in the next film. Ice Cube then opened up about Tucker having a role in the film.
“To me, it’s bot about asking Chris over and over again. It’s about putting a script in his hand, you know what I mean? And getting the ball rolling for real,” he said. “He’s not going to say yes until he sees the script and he likes what he’s doing in the new movie. That to me is the next step. I’ll keep everybody updated.”
Sway mentioned to Cube there was a lot of things Tucker was steering away from in terms of “lewdness in scripts.”
“Would you have to make adjustments for that in terms of his role?” Sway asked.
Would that, he asked, decide is he would do it?
“I’m not going to bend the movie out of whack for anybody,” said Cube, however, “Friday movies are loved by a whole lot of people so my thing is to stay true to the movie. If he wants to be a part of it, we got open arms for him.”
“I love Chris, I want him to do the movie. I think his fans want it. And ultimately, that’s what we’re in the business for. To please our fans and the people who supported us.”
