King Yella is calling for the freedom of Chiraq underground rap star Rico Recklezz. Yella posted Rico’s inmate snapshot onto his IG account with a message, reading, “Free bro.”
Rico Recklezz was arrested on a weapons charge just days after his release from jail in August 2013.
Rico and eight others were arrested while filming a music video in the Englewood neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side, according to The Chicago Tribune.
Rico and two other men, Sheldon Cobb, 24, and 19-year-old Rayvon Lollis, were slapped with felony charges, according to ABC 7.
Police found the men in possession of three firearms after responding to a report of criminal trespass, CBS 2 reports.
Rico, was charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and criminal trespass to land, according to DNAinfo.
Rico’s girlfriend took to Twitter to come to her beau’s defense.
“ALL @RICO_RECKLEZZ wanted TO DO WAS GO HARD FOR HIS FANZ HE LUV HIS FANZ AS IF THEY WAS FAMILY SMH,” she wrote.
Rico would later release his highly anticipated mixtape “Fa Da Fans” despite being incarcerated. Rico also unleashed what he called a “ChiRecklezz” freestyle letting fans know he still has it. No word on Rico’s release date at this time.
