Lil Durk is pushing his next mixtape back. The “Signed To The Streets” rapper said the project would now be released in January. It will be hosted by DJ Pharris and DJ Holiday.
“Mixtape droppin just to feed the streets jan5th @djpharris and @djholiday,” he wrote.
Durk initially had a drop date of Dec. 25.
Durk released his first mixtape as a Def Jam rapper Oct. 10 to positive reviews. Durk said in his “Streets Wanna Know” Vlog 2 that his mixtape earned him attention from some of Hip Hop’s heavyweights.
“It got a lot of views, downloads,” he said. “I got a lot of people who dig me…Ross, Khaled…Rich Homie Quan, CashOut, Meek, French… so I know I’m doing something good.”
Analytical data gathered by Def Jam Records showed the project trending higher than Rihanna, according to an official statement released by the legendary Hip Hop record company.
Durk posted the screenshot of the metrics to his Instagram with a caption, reading, “#levels.”
Lil Durk has been teasing a new song “Getting Money With My Team” for the past few weeks. This will most likely be the project’s lead single.
In this single, Durk raps, “I got locked up/Lost a couple ni**as, lost couple killers that got chopped up/Motivation and struggle/I can’t believe it, I can’t believe it/We are the team and we eating/Bad b*tches conceited/A lot of money, we even.”
Durk’s underdog role in the realm of mainstream Hip Hop propels his motivation. He hopes to continue what he started on “Signed To The Streets” with his next project.
“‘Signed To The Streets’ was like I got a point to prove…being underrated for a long time. Always trying to be in the first spot…I want to be seen through that time period,” he said in his vlog.
Durk’s next mixtape will surely start 2014 off for him on the right track.
