Lil Durk is a proud native of Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood on the South Side. Durk took Complex Mag on a tour of his old stomping grounds in a short doc.

Though the Chi has produced some of Hip Hop’s most popular entertainers, Durk broke down a somber reality of his hometown.

“It started getting too crazy,” he said of his neighborhood. “Kids was dying. Sometimes, kids was getting killed on purpose. It didn’t use to be that violent around here. High school days, it use to be chasing, use to be jump offs, and everybody start playing with guns.”
