Lil Durk is calling for the freedom of incarcerated rapper Lil Boosie.
“Free @BOOSIEOFFICIAL,” he wrote.
Lil Boosie was looking at a February release date from prison, but that date has been pushed back, according to L.A. Weekly reporter Jeff Weiss.
This marks the third time Boosie’s release date has been changed.
Weiss took to Twitter to reveal Boosie is now looking at a March release date.
“Just received confirmation that Boosie will not be getting out of jail next week. However, his release is imminent—most likely in March.
“A parole board hearing was scheduled for Boosie next week but was canceled, because it didn’t make sense considering his release is so soon.
“Boosie still has to finish up classes & then his release date will be officially re-calculated—tentatively, he’ll be home in March,” he wrote.
It was initially reported Lil Boosie’s prison release date was in August, according to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections.
Then the Baton Rouge rapper’s release date was pushed up to Feb. 16.
Lil Boosie’s brother and manager, Taquari Hatch, told the New Orleans Times-Picayune the “Still Happy” rapper’s release date was officially set for May 16, 2014. But that date was supposed to be moved up to Feb. 16, 2014 once the Trill Ent. rapper completed two additional classes at the Louisiana State Penitentiary.
It was in September when Rick Ross fueled rumors of Lil Boosie’s impending release during an interview with Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club.”
“They telling me November, he’ll be coming home,” the “100 Black Coffins” rapper said.
The boss also hinted he may potentially sign the embattled MC.
“I’m a put a bag on the table for that boy…You never know,” he said.
Gucci Mane is also entering himself in the bidding pool for the incarcerated rapper.
Gucci Mane hinted he has $500,000 on the table for the embattled Southern MC.
“500 cash for boosie,” he wrote.
Lil Boosie has a lot of thought-provoking new music to present to fans upon his release from prison, according to the rapper’s cousin and Trill Ent. Member Donkey.
Donkey, who revealed Boosie has “over 50 double albums” worth of songs, says one song that caught his attention was an ode to the late Hip Hop legend Tupac Shakur.
“That man said he got over 50 cds wrote, double albums. Over 50 double albums,” he told Say Cheese TV. “My favorite one is a “Letter To Tupac.”
“…To where he like saluting Pac for passing the torch to him that’s it’s his world now. He ready,” he adds.
Donkey went on to describe Boosie’s growth in prison.
“He done became so business-minded in all this,” Donkey explained. “This has really like opened his eyes to everything. It had made him serious about his craft, about life…I guess value his situation more than what he did.”
Donkey further explained prison was a wake-up call for the “Ghetto Stories” rapper.
“…It took this for him to understand the position that he was in instead of getting a little slap on the wrist cause he had so much,” Donkey continued. “He felt like God prepared him. Cause he ten times bigger now. Like Job, took it away from him, took it away from him and gave him, now he gon have ten times… he way bigger than what he was. But he ready now. Mind-wise, the world in trouble, game over.”,
The “Still Happy” rapper was sentenced to serve four years in prison after violating the terms of his parole in 2009, according to WAFB.
Boosie’s violation stemmed from pleading guilty to a third-offense marijuana possession charge.
Boosie’s legal woes didn’t end there. Boosie had eight additional years tacked onto his prison bid after he was caught smuggling codeine into the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, according to the Times-Picayune.
Codeine is the primary ingredient used in “Lean,” a drink that provides its user a sedated effect.
Boosie dodged a bullet after he was acquitted of murder in the 2009 murder of Terry Boyd. Boyd’s sister is the mother of Boosie’s child.
The “Wipe Me Down” rapper was accused of hiring hitman Michael “Marlo Mike” Louding in the slaying. Louding took his street moniker from the menacing character on “The Wire” crime series. Louding, who was 17 at the time, was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
